Updates

I'm still working at Singapore Food Delight Manufacturer Pte Ltd as a Quality Assurance Executive. Many always ask, what's Quality Assurance?

Quality assurance (QA) is a way of preventing mistakes or defects in manufactured products and avoiding problems when delivering solutions or services to customers; which ISO 9000 defines as "part of quality management focused on providing confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled".
My job responsibilities:

  • maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of both production site and staffs
  • documentation
  • audits
  • new product development
  • nutrition analysis
  • many more...
My company produces ready-to-eat microwavable packed meals and sandwiches to island-wide 7-Eleven stores. Those items are normally known as "convenience food". Hope that nothing will happen in between, and I will move to the new factory together.

Because...

Our department just had two interns from TP (yes, my juniors), and one of them will be coming back to work next week as a full-time staff assisting R&D department. I did not hope for her to be back as she's not as easy as how the others think she is. I just feel that she's very fake.

She better not stab me from the back...

New Challenge, New Start

One last week to go, and I would be saying "Sayonara" to my current company.

Yes, I moved on.

I was very glad that I was offered a job (twice) on the spot during job interviews. I did not graduate with wonderful GPA which I could flaunt to others, hence I had always thought employers would not want to hire someone who obtained "fantastic" GPA and grades. However, I was pretty happy that some employers did not mentioned anything regarding GPA or such, and what mattered to them most was your past experiences, and what you could perform.

I had thought of changing my pathway from Food Science to Human Resource, but I did not make it. Why? Because I did not graduate with HR related diploma. Hence, I just stay put and applied for Food Science positions. To my delight, upon applying for so many jobs on JobStreet, I did get a number of interview invitations.

On my third job interview, the employer offered me the job on the spot. I could not decide whether to accept or not because I had another interview in the afternoon which I was more interested in. I was not given the chance to think it over at home, because the boss wanted me to give him an answer, then I stayed in the meeting room to consider. I accepted it in the end, because it was a big company with more job advancement chances, and it was only 6 bus stops away from my house. Eventually, I rejected the job offer when the HR presented me with the letter of employment through e-mail. I was very glad they sent me the soft copy instead of needing me to go down to their HQ for it, because I had ample time to read through every T&Cs carefully. That was when I realized there were some terms which I could not accept and most importantly, I had been feeling very stressful from the interview due to the interviewer, and that was why I rejected the offer.

I was worried that I could not get a job, because I had tendered right before I secured another job. I felt that after I tendered, I would have more freedom to source for other jobs which were available and there might be some company who could not wait for you to serve your one-month notice.

On my fifth job interview, I was offered the job on the spot. It was somewhere very near to my house too and the boss was a nice person. Unlike the other interviews I had went, the boss was the one who kept talking and did not ask me much questions. I felt at ease throughout the "interview", and he had laid out the employment details in front of me, and willing to adjust the number of AL to accommodate my requests. I was given the time to consider over it at home. After laying out all the pros and cons, I accepted the job offer. It was still a QA job, but I would be involved in R&D duties which it was something that I always wanted to try. Pay was attractive, job environment was least stressful.

I would be going for job orientation on 27 April, and starting work on 4 May officially. Looking forward to learning new things in a different food industry.

Thankful for all my supportive family and friends.

Cinderella

I watched Cinderella with my boyfriend yesterday evening. It was my favorite fairy-tale story since young and I would definitely watched it! There was a little twist here and there but I really love the movie.

(from left to right)
Sophie McShera as Drizella Tremaine
Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine (the Wicked Stepmother)
Holliday Grainger as Anastasia Tremaine
Helena Bonham Carter as The Fairy Godmother
The fairy godmother was such an elegant and pretty woman as compared to a fatter fairy godmother in the fairy-tale.

Prince Charming

The prince was indeed very charismatic with his pair of charming blue eyes.

Richard Madden as Prince "Kit" Charming

Lily James as Ella ("Cinderella")
Last but not least, the Cinderella. I would not say she was very pretty, because she was more to the category of “耐看”.

I would love to own a pair of glass slippers

Be kind, have courage.

Feelin' Twenty-Two

28/2/15 (Saturday)

Monochrome-themed simple backdrop
I turned twenty-two on 26 February, and I had a mini celebration with my close friends and family on 28 February. It was a belated celebration because the actual day was on a Thursday. It was not often for my birthday to fall during CNY, hence it was a CNY gathering cum birthday celebration.

I regretted not having a theme for my 21st last year, so I decided to have the easiest color theme: M O N O C H R O M E

The initial design for the backdrop was to have paper pinwheels pasted on the wall. However, the DIY process failed so I decided to have paper chains instead. The DIY-ing, cutting and pasting was done fast with the help of my sister.

I was quite disappointed with the fact that two of my close friends (Jiaqi and Junwei) could not make it because it was during CNY and they needed to go over to their grandparents' / relatives'. I was still glad that the rest could make it. Besides having a few of my close friends, my ahyi and jiujiu family came over for the gathering cum celebration. Mummy prepared steamboat for the day. We started eating from afternoon and carried on with some gambling (it would be CNY without gambling).

I felt that my backdrop was quite failed because it was too small and hanged too low. However, I was glad to have the celebration because it was a heartwarming one for me.

Blessed 22nd.

26/2/15 (Thursday)

Peishi // #TeamBitchy
Peishi came all the way down to Sembawang to give me a surprise on 25th right after ending work. How to be not touched by her actions? She headed down from East to North just to give me a surprise appearance and the gift. After that she had to travel from North back to the West. Thank you so much for the surprise and the effort you put in. Blessed to have you, bitch.

A new yet old watch
She bought me a new leather strap from Fossil for my watch. And she was the one who chose that watch for my 21st birthday gift. The same watch with different strap. Thank you for such a thoughtful gift. Love you!

I had mini celebration in office on 26th. The cake was sponsored by the Accountant who was not around. I applied for half day leave on 26th and one day leave on 27th. I do not wish to be in the office to work over my birthday weekend.

Just nice, we had an appointment for signing the lease of agreement with HDB at 5.40pm. We had to head down to HDB Hub before having my birthday dinner. Luckily, everything was done within 20 minutes which was very fast.

Feelin' 22nd
My beloved boyfriend brought me to Todai at MBS for my birthday dinner. He knew that I had always wanted to dine in there, hence he decided to bring me to Todai for my birthday. I did not take any photos of the spread but it was a not bad experience dining at a high class buffet restaurant. I hope I could go back again for another meal.

背多分 :')

Thankful for a loving boyfriend

I had another surprise from Emelia and Leon after I reached home. They surprised me at my doorstep with a birthday cake. I was so touched by their efforts. What else could I wish for?

I really thank each and everyone of you who had put in so much effort for my 22nd. So blessed with all of you with me.

I AM TWENTY-TWO!

Decision

Should I stay in food science field?
Should I change into a different field?
Should I go into human resource field?

What if I could not find any job after I tendered my resignation letter?
What if I could not get into human resource field?
What if I would not be wanted anywhere?

Questions like those above had been running through my mind for the past weekend. I would want to leave my current workplace asap. I do not want to stay there any longer because I had enough of all the pushing of blames/faults.

It was true that I had nothing much to do at work expect during the periods of certification renewal, audits etc. Besides those, the rest of the time I would have nothing much to do. That was the problem. I had nothing to do, but I had to find something to do, I had to act as if I was very busy so that human resource would not find fault with me.

To be honest, the HR exec. condemned me. And why? It was because I was not a beneficial person to her. She treated people who could be a help to her, very friendly. However, she treated the others who would do no help to her, like you had never existed. One word, 目中无人. She was a foreign "talent" (talent or not?), from the country I hated the most. She held SG citizenship because she married a S'porean. Furthermore, she had been in the company for more than 5 years, and besides holding the position of HR exec., she also held the position of PA to the Management. I would classify her under people who would "搬弄是非". How could such people exist? How could such people be in my homeland?

As for my superior, he was not any help to me. When the other departments threw problems which was not related to me, to me, he did nothing but just keep quiet. Hello? I was not even involved in that pool of shit in the first place, but it ended up becoming my problem/fault. He would only notice if I had done my daily routine checks in the kitchens and all other areas in the company.

I really want to leave this place asap, I even hope I can quit with immediate effect.

On the eve of CNY, we headed down to grandparents' house at Tampines for reunion dinner (but they ain't reunited at all -.-). The journey from North to East was horrendous. It has been very long since I last took 969 to Tampines. I was from TP though, I did not complain throughout my 3 years in TP (maybe sometimes but not all the time). Yeah, and I had to see those 势利眼 relatives of mine. We had steamboat for dinner and after that how I hope we could just leave right away.

大年初一, woke up in the morning with breakfast prepared by my Papa. He would always cook us mee sua with hard-boiled egg on the first day of CNY. After we were all done, we had to head to Tampines again to bai nian. The good thing was, everyone would be there hence we do not need to go every house for visiting. However, the bad thing was, we had to stay there till night.

大年初二, boyfriend came in the morning to bai nian and then we headed to his house. Met my parents at night to go to my Godparents' house for visiting and yay that I could see Zenden boy again. We had light dinner over there because a plate of fried hokkein prawn noodles costs $5 per plate. Horrendous. Then, my godparents' suggested to bring us over to my elder Godbrother and sis-in-law house for visiting. They had just moved in before CNY. I love the design of their house, it was so cozy and modern. I hope I would be able to afford an EC in the near future.

大年初三, house visiting at JB; overnight and steamboat at my Ahyi's new house. The life was so different over at JB, slow paced. Gambled with my cousins from afternoon till 3am. It was a fun experience yet tiring as I did not get enough sleep.

大年初四, returned to SG.

大年初五, 开工大吉 :(
