Star Cruise Virgo

Ed and I went on Star Cruise Virgo from 05/03/14~07/03/14.
But of course, we did not went on the trip by ourselves, it was my company's retreat and we were allowed to bring our partners along at own expense. Ed said since he would only need to pay for himself, why not just go on the trip and not waste it. He paid S$338 for himself.

Waiting to board at Harbourfront Cruise Centre
Yay to balcony class!
Company booked Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony for everyone, a luxury indeed. Balcony class passengers enjoyed for benefits than other classes. We went on board the cruise in the normal way with a welcome drink at the lobby. However, I did notice those passengers who booked inside stateroom etc, had to board from the lowest deck. That was the big difference.

View from my balcony before it departs.
I forgot to take photos of the room because I was too overwhelmed by the balcony in my room.

Taken from google. Oceanview Stateroom w Balcony
It was a 2D2N cruise stopping by Malacca, because it only depart from Singapore at 2355. After putting down our luggage in our room, we went out to have our late dinner. Initially we went to Mediterranean Buffet located at Deck 12 to take a look at their buffet selection. There was nothing much hence we went down The Pavilion Restaurant located at Deck 6 for some eastern cuisines. As there was only two of us, we were asked to share table with another couple because they do not have table of 2. We were served 5-course dinner, the food was not bad. The restaurant was quite crowded probably because it was one of three free restaurants to dine in.

As we were balcony class passengers, we were given S$50 dining credit to dine at other restaurants on board. We could not decide what to have, and hence we decided to spend it over the next two days.

After dining, we went back to our room to Tango Video Call my sister and family before I off my data. There was not any free Wifi on board the cruise, you need to pay to use, and it was very expensive.

We were asked to go down to the lobby to assemble for an emergency drill. When we went back to our room, I saw my colleagues in their rooms and I asked if they went down for the drill. They said they just ignored. I seemed like a fool at the point of time for going down for the drill.

There was not any TV channels that I was interested in watching, hence lights off!

DAY 2

Woke up at around 7am in the morning and I realized it was only 6am on my phone, but outside was so bright. It was because we were near Indonesia, hence my phone auto changed the time to Indonesia timing. Sotong me.

Had a quick wash, and we hurried down to Pavilion for dim sum breakfast before alighting at Malacca for some sightseeing with my Malaysian colleagues. The dim sum served was not that fantastic like how some people reviewed on their blogs. They do not served free drinks, you need to pay for your drink. One glass of soya bean costed like S$7?! So expensive.

I headed over to Bella Vista located at another side of Deck 6 to continue with my breakfast. Food served there was so awesome till I did not take any photos. There were fruit juice served at Bella Vista for free. Bella Vista was a western restaurant. I regretted going down to Malacca, I should have stay aboard to enjoy their lunch.

Some photos taken at Malacca:

We bought many goodies from Malacca's famous 三叔公. After that we went to a random mall to sing K, which I was not very interested in, but my colleagues wanted to, so I went along. Regreted!!!
All of us went back on cruise at around 4pm as the cruise would be departing at 6pm.

We decided to spend our dining credit for steamboat bbq buffet. We thought it would be expensive but it was not. It only S$46 for two pax with a free fresh fruit juice. Wow, I love to have steamboat on cruise!

After dinner, we headed to Deck 12 to have some gelato to spend off our credits. It was swensens ice cream btw.

DAY 3

Our cruise getaway was coming to an end. We slept in till 9am, too tired to wake up. Breakfast time at Bella Vista was extended on the last day hence we washed up and hurried down for our last meal at Bella Vista.

I would want to go on cruise again!
